At the junction of Minnesota Highways 5 and 55, one mile east of the Twin Cities International Airport. Take Bloomington Road exit and follow signs to historic site.

Bus lines numbers 55, 155, 442 and 471 serve Fort Snelling from Minneapolis. Service from St. Paul requires a transfer at the Lake Street Station. the Fort Snelling Bus Stop is located adjacent to the Bishop Whipple Federal Building parking lots, and is a 10-15 minute walk from the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center. The Hiawatha Line Fort Snelling Light Rail Station and the Fort Snelling Bus Stop is located adjacent to the Bishop Whipple Federal Building parking lots, and is a 10-15 minute walk from the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center.
CAUTION: Please note when walking to the historic fort from the Light Rail station several areas do not have sidewalks. In addition, there are blind corners and fast-moving traffic, particularly along Bloomington Road. Please exercise extreme caution when walking in this area.
