World War II Weekend

WWII reenactors

Sat, June 21, 2014 - Sun, June 22, 2014

10 am - 5 pm (both days)

A USO show featuring the 34th "Red Bull" Infantry band, swing dance instruction and a recreated Allied encampment help bring the 1940s to life as visitors explore World War II and Minnesota’s role on battlefields and at home. Guests can visit with costumed staff, view period displays, listen to radio broadcasts about war news and watch weapon firing demonstrations during this special weekend devoted to Minnesota's Greatest Generation. Thousands of Minnesotans joined the military at Fort Snelling during the war, and the fort was their introduction to military life.

*Special Featured Programs
The Minnesota National Guard's Red Bull Marching and Jazz Bands will perform several times during the event. The marching band will take to the field at 12:30 and 3:30 both days, and the Jazz band will play for the USO show and swing dancing.

Also, don't miss the Battlefield History Team and their exhibit on Army Rangers during WWII in the Visitors Center all weekend!
