Scouts

Scout groups of all ages and sizes can tour the fort at a reduced rate!

Scouts may receive a FREE Historic Fort Snelling pin (while supplies last).

History Passport Patch Program

The History Passport Patch Program allows your group to earn a patch by completing activities within the historic fort. They’ll learn about life in the early 1800s and have fun doing it!
* The History Passport can be used to help earn a Boy Scout American Heritage merit badge (with approval of Scout leaders).

Ages: Brownie, Junior Girl Scouts and older; Cub Scouts and older

Group Size: Any size. Larger groups are welcome to divide into smaller groups and complete the activities in any order.

Cost: $7.00 / person (Scouts & Adults) - includes admission and patch.
Cash or check only at historic fort, credit cards accepted at Visitors Center

How To Earn Your History Passport Patch:

  1. Check in at the Visitor Center to pick up your materials
  2. Walk down to the historic fort to complete the passport booklet activities.
  3. While you’re working on the booklet, explore other areas of the fort and watch scheduled demonstrations, like cannon firings and infantry drills.
  4. Once all activities are completed, stop at the Visitor Center desk to pick up your patch.

 

Fort Snelling Historic Trails Award

The Fort Snelling Historic Trail has been established in the City of Minneapolis in Minnehaha Falls Park, Fort Snelling State Park, Historic Fort Snelling, and along the Mississippi River. The Trail is intended to familiarize hikers with the history of early Minnesota and the region around Fort Snelling. A stop at each of these historic places helps Scouts answer questions which will earn them the award. Patches can be purchased upon completion of the program at the Northern Star Council's Base Camp.
