For those interested in trying their hand at learning a skill from the early 1800s, Historic Fort Snelling offers Early American Skills Classes.

Register for available classes.

  • Blacksmithing Basics: Join the skilled craftsmen to try your hand at blacksmithing, cabinet making, woodturning and more. After a brief orientation, use period tools to learn long-forgotten skills. Advanced classes available for those who have already taken Historic Fort Snelling's Blacksmithing course. Ages: adults and children ages 12 and up (children 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult)
