Little House in the Big Fort Day Camp
Ages: 7-11
Spend a week living like Laura Ingalls Wilder in this 4-day camp based on the beloved Little House book series. Each camp will focus on four books in the series and include a cooking project, sewing, music, dancing, games, crafts, and even a one-room schoolhouse experience! Two-day camp option available in 2012.

 Huck Finn Day Camp
Ages: 9-12
The classic book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn comes to life in this exciting 4-day camp for the adventurous kid! Campers will go fishing and hiking, cook over a fire, build a lodge, and explore the river and woods of the adjacent Fort Snelling State Park. Two-day camp option available in 2012.

Soldier Day Camp
Ages: 8-13
 
Come and enlist in the 5th Infantry for an afternoon! Campers will learn about the lives of soldiers during the 1820s at Fort Snelling. Campers will "enlist," march with the soldiers, learn how to load a cannon, and more!

Fife and Drum Day Camp
Ages: 10-14 
Join the staff of Historic Fort Snelling for an afternoon of music and fun. Campers will be issued instruments; both tin whistles (which campers can take home) and drums, and spend the day working with specially trained staff to learn to play martial music from the 1800s. No previous musical experience necessary!

Davy Crockett Day Camp
Ages: 9-12
 Davy Crockett was a living legend during the early 1800s and tales of his adventures spread across the world. Join us at Historic Fort Snelling for this special two-day camp and learn the skills Davy and others like him used on the frontier. Campers will learn about tracking, see demonstrations of fur trade skills, and more!

Archaeology for Kids! Day Camp
Ages: 10-14 
Grab your trowels and get ready for an exciting day at Historic Fort Snelling as you participate in an archaeological dig! Campers will spend the day with real archaeologists and historians who will help them learn how to do archaeological work, everything from research, to digging and sifting at a recreated dig site, to working with real scientific equipment in an actual lab!

Bugler Day Camp
Ages: 10-14 
Spend an afternoon with the musicians of Historic Fort Snelling and learn how to play the bugle. Many of the bugle calls used by soldiers during the 1820s are still in use today, and this camp is designed to teach you the basics of how to play them. Campers will be issued bugles and equipment, learn the basics of playing a bugle, and practice a variety of historic tunes. Space is limited to 10 so sign up today! No previous musical experience necessary!

Bring your school-age care groups to Historic Fort Snelling this summer and participate in a History Hunt in order to become members of the Fort Snelling Kids Club. Each group receives a History Hunt sheet leading them on a journey of hands-on discovery, exploration and fun! Each sheet asks kids to seek out and correctly identify historical objects hidden somewhere within the fort. Completing the History Hunt activity will earn everyone in your group a Fort Kids button. While your group is there, make sure to participate in all the hands-on interactive activities and watch our living history demonstrations on the half hour.

  • Registration is recommended but not required.
  • Groups of any size are welcome.
  • $5 per person (cash or check only at historic fort / credit cards accepted at Visitors Center)
  • Program is available from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend - not available during special event weekends.
