Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps

Join Historic Fort Snelling's NEW volunteer Fife and Drum Corps in the summer of 2014. Students 15 years and older are encouraged to join the ranks of this unique musical ensemble. The program runs from February through August.

  • Learn military music and "duty calls"
  • Teach music history to Historic Fort Snelling Visitors
  • Depict one of the earliest military musical units in Minnesota
  • Perform at historic sites and in parades
  • Serve as musical ambassadors for the Minnesota Historical Society and State of Minnesota

The Historic Fort Snelling Fife and Drum Corps is accepting volunteer applications for the following:

  • Snare drummers who can master traditional grip
  • Wind players willing to learn 6-hole fife techniques

We are recruiting a diverse group of students who are able to attend a rehearsal once day per week and six to eight Saturday performances during the summer. Students will be trained and led by historic site staff with fife and drum experience.
