Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps

Accepting Applications for 2015

The Historic Fort Snelling Fifes and Drums had a great revival year in 2014. Members are rehearsing for the 2015 season, but it’s not too late to apply!

The corps still has openings for these student musicians:
  • Wind players willing to learn 6-hole fife techniques
  • Snare drummers who know or can learn traditional grip
  • Bass drummers who can carry a 28-inch or larger drum
Plus these additional openings:
  • Alternates for the above positions and American Flag Squad duties
  • Drum major (must have completed at least one year with the corps)

Come join the fun! Students 14 years of age and older are encouraged to join the ranks of this unique musical ensemble. The program runs through August. We are recruiting a diverse group of students who are able to attend rehearsals on Tuesday evenings until mid-May, a few sectional rehearsals or drill camps, and six to eight mostly Saturday performances during the summer. Students are trained and led by fort staff with fife and drum experience.
